About this tool
Generates passphrases from the EFF long or short wordlists, or the BIP39 list, using the browser's cryptographic randomness. It shows the entropy as you add words, so you can choose a length on purpose.
Good for
- Master passwords, disk-encryption passphrases, and anything else you have to type from memory
- Seeing how much entropy each extra word buys
Not for
- Cryptocurrency wallet seeds: the BIP39 option has no checksum, so wallets will reject it, and it isn't a valid mnemonic
- Passwords a password manager will remember for you, where a long random string from password-gen is better
